Skinningrove and the Local Area

Walking

Skinningrove offers a wealth of walking opportunities, the village is directly on the Cleveland Way offering coastal walks with breathtaking views and some wonderful woodland walks are available very close by and detailed in the link below

From the sea front and following the Cleveland Way turn left to Saltburn or the right to Staithes and beyond with good public transport links back if one way is enough

If your walking ambitions are slightly less ambitious, a walk along the jetty (pier) or the length of Cattersy sands and back can be equally rewarding

Cycling

Griff provides the ideal base for a cycling holiday, National Cycle Route 1 passes directly past the cottage and the Tour de Yorkshire and East Cleveland Klondyke have both used the main road just outside the village
We provide secure cycle storage at the rear of the property with bike stands and charging facilities for E-Bikes

The Village

Skinningrove is a quiet but friendly village, we are sure you will love it as much as we do

The village shop is currently closed but there is a fish and chip shop, the mining museum and an good local pub serving food

The village comes alive in summer when people flock to the beach.

A great new addition is a coffee van in the beach car park, a real coffee is a treat on the walk to the beach at any time of the year.

The Beaches

Skinningrove offers two beaches with Cattersy Sands (Saltburn Side to the locals) included in the Daily Telegraph list of the best 40 UK beaches
The perfect place for a paddle, a swim, a walk, to build a sand castle or just to sit, some visitors last year delighted in having seals join them while they boogie boarded
The beaches are a paradise for dogs and unlike some of the neighbouring beaches there are no restrictions on where they can go, an hour or so with a ball and thrower and our four legged friend is ready for sleep

Wild Sauna

Saltburn, Runswick Bay, Sandsend and Whitby amongst others are serviced by a local Sauna company  The top 2 destinations are walkable and “hot and cold” between the North Sea and the sauna offers considerable health benefits.

Top Tip :  Check the tide is in for the Saltburn one so that its not too far to run between the two
