Had a great stay. The property was extremely comfortable. The fixtures and fittings were of an exceptional quality which added to the enjoyment of the stay. The property was well equipped as the hosts had thought of everything. There were some lovely touches such as fresh cakes , wine and beers in the fridge which also made the stay more special. The hosts were very informative and helpful throughout our stay. The local beech was wild , rugged and beautiful. The property is well situated for local exploring along the coastline. I would highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic cottage, Paul and Cath have literally thought of everything. Paul was a brilliant host, very responsive to messages and the welcome goodies were such a brilliant touch. Immediately felt welcome and at home. Really dog friendly but also spotless. The local area is a little run down as others have mentioned but we loved the location regardless. Minutes to the sea and breathtaking walks along the Cleveland Way. Would definitely love to return.

We have had a lovely 3 night break at Griff cottage with our 2 dogs. This is a great location for easy access to a dog friendly beach (an easy 5 minute walk) and we met lots of friendly dogs and people. There’s also a great little food truck in the carpark serving hot and cold food and drinks. Lots of seaglass too for those who like to hunt for treasures. Skinningrove itself isn’t the prettiest of places but Griff cottage is lovely. The yard out the back is enclosed, the summer house was lovely and warm to sit in even when chilly outside and the dog shower with warm water was invaluable as my spaniel thinks he’s a mountain goat and came back filthy every day! Paul and Cath have supplied everything you need and some welcoming extras The cottage is cosy with comfy beds and the most awesome shower we’ve ever come across! All in all this is one of the best places we have stayed for a chilled out few days and would definitely recommend.

This is a really luxurious cottage with lots of above and beyond details like cake from a local bakery on arrival. Everything was beautifully presented with a really well stocked kitchen. Paul provided extra sheets, towels and throws so we could protect the furniture and feel relaxed about our dog- the heated outdoor dog shower was also fab. We loved having local places to eat recommended and the location is a fantastic base for walking the Cleveland way which we did both to Saltburn and to Staithes. The cottage was such a cosy place to return to- lovely fire and really well heated space. We would definitely like to return.

Absolutely loved it here, so many little touches, from wine, beer & milk in the fridge. Wine and crisps all the essentials already thought of. My favourite coffee! Spotlessly clean, throws and extra sheets for the dogs including dog towels. The beach is just a short walk away and Saltburn about 4 miles. Weather was not the best but had a great week chilling out, walking and eating. Paul was a great host and regularly checked we were all good.

Absolutely love this little cottage. The extra touches are really appreciated and nothing is too much trouble for the hosts. Apart from the accommodation having everything we needed including a really comfy bed, cozy fire and well-equipped kitchen, it’s just 5 minutes’ walk to the beach which the dogs adore. Lovely Saltburn, Staithes and Whitby are just a short car journey away. This was our second visit and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Griff cottage to any prospective guests. Absolutely loved staying at Paul’s place with our two dogs who felt right at home and loved the hot & cold dog shower when returning from the beach. My husband and daughter even swam in the sea when the last of the sunshine came out in November ! We would love to come back as we plan to enjoy this part of the world more often. Beautifully refurbished cottage. spotlessly clean, Dog made welcome and provided for very well. Everything you could need in cottage and in excellent order. Lovely dog friendly beach in easy walking distance on the level. Village a bit desolate but friendly people. Lots of lovely places to visit within less than half hour drive. We usually park up our car on arrival at our destination and walk everywhere but needed to use car as even village shop closed. However host left us milk, beer cake etc so we’re able to get settled in. Supermarket only 10min drive away.

Communication with Paul was smooth, and any questions asked were answered straight away. The welcome package was a lovely and welcome surprise (the cakes were to die for). We had an awesome stay at Griff Cottage. The house is lovely and in fantastic condition. The kitchen in particular is one of the best I’ve stayed in on air BnB. The location is amazing for everything beach, coastal walks and getting to the places you want to along this glorious coastline. An excellent short break at Griff Cottage. Paul and Cath were perfect hosts and we were welcomed with lots of treats including beer, wine, crisps and biscuits. The cottage was extremely clean and well presented. There were throws and extra sheets that meant the dogs could go anywhere in the house, something we find that most places don’t allow, even if they advertise being dog friendly. The village is a little run down but everyone we bumped into was friendly and the beaches and surrounding countryside were excellent. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at Griff Cottage.

We have really enjoyed booking with Griff cottage again. Paul the host is very responsive and provides lots of useful local information. we generally use Griff Cottage as our base, and spend our day exploring local areas. feels like a home from home. great location, really well thought out amenities for dogs too. its a beautiful place and always a pleasure to book and stay at the cottage. the village of skinningrove is quiet and friendly, lovely beach for everyone, and great park for the kids.

Lovely little house, very clean with a well equipped kitchen. Its a short walk to two beaches from the house both of which are dog friendly all year round. We walked to Saltburn across the cliffs and caught the bus back. Chippy in the village was decent and the Seaview restaurant in Saltburn had excellent food.

A Beautiful Cottage in a Stunning location, close to the Local Beach and near by wonderful Kaz Kane Restaurant. Paul had everything covered, with little extra details from offering a lovely welcome with Tea , Coffee already on stock, The Kitchen offered everything and more so it was so easy and practical to use. The whole cottage was stunning and the little one really enjoyed the summer out house in the garden, A perfect get away for the kids during the day and somewhere for Adults to chill out to in the evenings. wonderful nights sleep and the Bathroom was gorgeous. the family Dog also benifited from the outdoor wash area which was extremely handy after taking them for long walks and runs on the Beautiful Beach. very reasonable in price considering how much you get included for what you pay and worth it for the location alone. would happily use this Cottage again.

Paul was a fantastic host. Everything was as described. We especially liked the cakes, beer & wine that were awaiting us on arrival. Loved the dog shower as we spent a lot of time on the beach with our dog, and we made full use of the bbq. The back yard is a fantastic quiet sun trap which is a great place to chill after a hard day’s sightseeing.

Griff cottage is a lovely house next to a beautiful dog friendly beach and some extraordinary scenic walks. Although skinningrove itself does not have a lot going on it was quiet but it was near other areas either by walking or in the car. Paul very kindly left us brownies wine and beer as a welcome gift which was lovely and there was everything we needed for our weekend stay. Would definitely recommend.

Paul is a lovely host and the house is perfect and homely. It is super clean and we really appreciated the welcome goodies. Very dog friendly cottage with bowls, plenty of towels and bedding to keep the furniture clean- the dog shower is amazing! Quiet area within walking distance to the beach for my elderly dog. Would 100% recommend for a peaceful relaxing get away. The parking spaces outside the cottage were a bonus as we could easily and safely pack up the dogs into the car. Paul messaged with local recommendations and other information we needed ahead of time and checked we had arrived safely. Thank you both!

There’s not a lot to do in Skinningrove itself but it’s a fantastic base for exploring, is right on the Cleveland Way so great for walking, and the beach is one of the best we found. The house is immaculate, with all the facilities you could hope for and a great private backyard set up for relaxing. We absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely return. Thank you Paul!

We loved Griff cottage. It was really clean and tidy. The bedrooms were light and airy with good quality bed linens and towels. The kitchen was really spacious with plenty of crockery and glasses. There were useful things like foil and cling film. The lounge was comfy with a lovely gas fire that looked like a log burner. There was every provision for our dogs with throws provided and a dog shower if needed. The beach was fantastic for the dogs with miles of sand. The cottage is really well situated for visiting coastal towns and villages such as Staithes, Saltburn and Whitby. We used the local buses which stop in the village or at the top of the road. The items left for us by Paul, cake, beer, wine, milk and snacks was a lovely touch and much appreciated. House is well located for exploring the North Yorkshire moors. We were there in February so I suspect that in the summer Skinningrove is lot more appealing, especially as the sea is only a 5 minute walk away. Paul the host was communicative and helpful.

We cannot praise Griff cottage highly enough! There were so many thoughtful little extras eg chocolates, wine, delicious local cakes, a hose to clean the dogs etc. The bed was really comfy and the bedding so soft. The kitchen was very well-equipped and the shower in the bathroom is amazing! The local beach at Skinningrove is great for the dogs and the Cleveland Way goes through the village. Saltburn, Staithes and Whitby are short car journeys away. Paul was a great host and gave us plenty of useful information beforehand. We went over the Christmas period and really appreciated the tasteful decorations in the cottage. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lovely place. Thank you!

Fab stay at Griff’s house. They really have thought of everything to make guests feel at home. Spotlessly clean, well equipped kitchen, and the whole place has been renovated to a high standard. Skinningrove itself is very quiet, has a beautiful sandy beach but not much else if you’re looking for local amenities. For us this was perfect, yet glad we planned for this prior to our stay. Overall we had a fantastic few peaceful days getting away from it all.

were do I start im basically having massive holiday blues after my fantastic stay at Griff cottage . The house is perfect for a wonderful stay in north Yorkshire. Paul has made sure you have all you need for a comfortable stay. huge comfy bed gorgeous bathroom and fully equipped kitchen . plus a lovely outdoor space which we were lucky to enjoy with our little yorkies stan n flo . Skinningrove itself is quaint offering a stunning beach fish n chip shop and well stocked post office for essentials . short walk up to a pub that served food .plus the community centre which serve cooked breakfast on a couple of days for very reasonable price. locally there are supermarkets . The house gave us a fab base to visit whitby, Scarborough, Robin hoods bay , Sandsend , Staithes and Durham . Favourite was Sandsend with a lovely cafe sitting over the beach. Most of those dog friendly. we had a fantastic week and Paul was the perfect host leaving us some much appreciated treats. which we enjoyed.

Paul was a great host – super helpful prior to arrival and during our stay. The hosts had left a bottle of wine and beers in the fridge – which is a nice touch. The accomodation has been modernised to a high standard throughout the property – all the rooms have been updated/decorated and to a modern taste. The kitchen was very very well equipped – you had everything you needed for your stay (unlike many other Airbnb’s). Skinningrove is a great location to use as a base for exploring the local coastline – Whitby , Staithes and Sandsend are close by. Also it is not too far to Durham and the North York Moors are right on the doorstep. The beach at Skinningrove is nice and within 5/10 minutes walking distance and I am sure in the summer it would be a nice place to hang out – a bit on the cold side in September though. If you have a dog there are loads of great cliff walks nearby.

Wow! What a beautiful house! We loved our stay at Griff Cottage (2 adults, 2 children and 1 medium sized dog) it was beautifully presented, spotlessly clean had everything we needed and the extra touch of finding treats was just the icing on the cake. (We even had to purchase more cakes to take home!) Paul was a fantastic host with full communication to let us know all of the information about the check in/out and was straight back to us with any questions we had and contacted us to ensure we had everything we needed. The cottage is located so close to the beautiful beach which we all loved. We could not say anything negative about this place it is without doubt our favourite Airbnb!! Thank you Paul x

Brilliant stay at Griff Cottage, it was a home away from home which, with a teething baby, was just what we needed. The place was immaculate, really close to the beach which my 3 boys and dog thoroughly enjoyed and Paul’s suggestions of Kaskane and Seaview were really appreciated (and enjoyed by all!). Paul’s place was absolutely perfect for our stay. The nearby beach was spectacular and we had a lot of fun there with our dog and toddler. The house itself is brilliant, just as described. It is beautifully kitted out and has absolutely everything you could need. It is by far the best Airbnb I have stayed in in terms of amenities and provisions. Paul went above and beyond. I particularly loved how this place is not just dog friendly, but completely accepts that dogs will be on the sofas and beds and provides blankets for this. Our dog also loved the warm outside shower and there was even dog shampoo provided. Couldn’t rate this house highly enough! Thanks for a great stay, the wine and baked goods were the cherry on top.

We had a wonderful week at Paul’s little house in Skinningrove. The place was gorgeous, very modern and clean with absolutely everything you could need. Also one of the most dog-friendly places we have stayed in, even with blankets for the sofas so the dogs could cuddle with us in the evenings! Paul was a brilliant host, very clear communication and lots of great local recommendations and guides available. The location is stunning as well. Lots and lots of walks from the front door (we walked up the coast path to Saltburn), but also many places within driving distance such as Whitby and Dalby Forest. The beach is a few minutes down the road and is perfect – sandy, clear waters, peaceful, stunning. Can’t thank Paul enough for our wonderful holiday!

The cottage was home from home and as described in the listing. A few miles from Staithes and Saltburn which are well worth a visit, and Whitby is a few miles further away. The beaches at Skinningrove are dog friendly and the cottage has a very useful hot tap outside so there are no dirty dogs inside.

Griff cottage was warm cosy and very clean, and unlike anywhere else we’ve stayed it was very pet friendly! Paul provided everything, including throws for sofas and covering for beds so doggies got a holiday too! On arrival we’d been left lots of goodies for us to enjoy which was a lovely surprise! Some lovely little touches and nice little surprises not mentioned in the description. I can’t recommend this property enough, particularly if you bring your dog. Cottage very clean and comfortable. Well equipped for cooking and relaxing. Comfortable beds and nice fluffy towels. Some lovely extra touches like the wine, beer, cakes (very yummy) and snacks. As other have reviewed not much in skinngrove but the beach really nice, wide, clean and great for dog walking.

We chose Skinningrove as we came from Surrey to go to a family wedding in Danby. The cottage was so warm, clean and comfortable that we did not want to leave ! We were there during Storm Babet and were cosy and safe. The cottage is equipped with everything you could possibly need – and more – and is furnished to a very high standard. Superb cottage – wish it wasn’t so far away !

The Griff is extremely comfortable with excellent amenities – we were made very welcome with drinks, snacks and very good cakes. Throws were provided to dogproof the furniture, which was considerate. Skinningrove is a great base for walking the top end of the Cleveland Way, both Saltburn and Staithes are a shortish all away. We’ll come again!

Had a wonderful 4 days stay. Went on the Pullman Train which was spectacular. Had a lovely day at Whitby which was only 15 miles away. Went to the local pub/restaurant for 2 night. Everyone was so helpful and food lovely. Griff cottage was wonderful. Great for the dog as back was really secure and the beach was literally a minute away. Loved the little extras which was left. Beds very very comfortable.

Perfect location for joining the Cleveland Way & a regular bus service running from Whitby & Middlesbrough. Locals are very welcoming & friendly. The cottage was immaculate with quality furnishings & the welcome goodies were much appreciated! Paul was the perfect host & ensured that we had everything we required for an enjoyable stay.

Great weekend break. We stayed as a couple with our two dogs. The house was immaculate and clean, when we arrived there was cakes, wine and beers ready for us which was a lovely touch. The cottage was perfect for dogs, there was an enclosed space outside and an outside tap which was handy to wash them off after being at the beach which was a four minute walk away. In all we had a fantastic time and Paul was a great host!!

One of the best properties we’ve stayed in. Very dog friendly, even had hot water outside to wash them after they’d been playing on the beach. The home was cosy & modern at the same time. We loved our welcome pack. The outside space was a bonus.Paul & Cath we’re easy to contact and really helpful. Griff Cottage is handy for visiting local towns and has lovely beaches on its’s doorstep. We hope to stay again

Fabulous stay. Everything you could possibly need and more. The location was spot on for us, so handy for the places we had planned to see. I couldn’t fault any of the facilities, and the outside space at the back was ideal to catch the last of the days sun. We even had a lovely box of cakes, a bottle of wine and beers left for our arrival- most welcome. I would definitely have no hesitation in staying again.

Griff cottage is fabulously placed for the North Yorkshire coast. It The house is the nicest Air BnB we have stayed in. All areas are excellent, clean, comfortable, and extremely well equiped. Paul was always at the end of the phone with advise and directions etc. The beach is gorgeous and you can just step onto the Cleveland way…The Village is sparce on amenities however we loved it…

Griff cottage is an amazing place obviously designed and cared for by special people. It is the ideal location for many attractions and shops are within 10 minutes in the car. There is a local pub and shop for food and essentials. Everyone was friendly and the beach is at the end of the street. The welcome gifts were fab and Paul’s contact almost instantaneous. We would revisit in an instant 5* plus for us! Thank you so much Paul!

We arrived a little early and we’re able to get in, the locations are fab, parking is great, the whole house and what paul and cath provided were above and beyond. My dog was completely at home. The best stay ever!!

We’ve just returned from a 3 night stay. Griff Cottage is an absolute find and we will be back. Every care has been taken with the property and it is immaculate inside. Our welcome pack was delightful and the place has everything you could possibly need. We loved it thank you! The Kaskane bar just up the road is well worth a visit too for a lovely meal.

Paul was a great host with plenty of information and local recommendations. He even checked in with us after some horrific weather. The property was completely spotless and had everything you would expect and more. The garden shed was an extra treat when the evenings cooled down. Great base for exploring the local beaches, although Skinningrove, within a few minutes walk from the property, was by far our favourite. Will be booking again when we’re next in the area.

Griff Cottage is an wonderful place to stay – a true home from home. Everything is immaculate with many thoughtful touches – Goodies in the kitchen cupboards, Alexas in each room, superb shower and even a cake delivery! Paul is a welcoming and responsive host. We had such a lovely stay at Griff Cottage. The cottage was so easy to find and once inside it was immaculate, welcoming and felt like home. The cottage was full of everything you could ever need, clearly it is a very loved cottage as such thought and detail has gone into it. Paul was a superb host, he gave such clear instructions on how to get there and sharing local knowledge. Paul was very communicative throughout our stay, making sure that we had got their ok and making sure we knew we could contact him at any point with any issues. Such a beautiful home and being a 5 minute walk away from the beach was the icing on the cake!

My husband and I spent our 10th wedding anniversary at Paul’s place and it was a perfect spot for visiting Whitby, Runswick Bay, Staithes and Saltburn-by-the-sea. Coming home to such a cosy and homely place made it perfect. We ate in quite a bit because we loved being in the great, well-equipped kitchen. We honestly had the best time. Thanks ever so much!
